External design and development: agree the handover that developers need

A visual prototype can leave error states and business rules unanswered. Agree the developer handover before commissioning the design work.

Document the journey

Include empty states, loading, validation and restricted operations. Specify what happens when an integration is unavailable. A designer needs access to the relevant business decisions.

Resolve ambiguous rules

Mark assumptions and obtain approval from the product owner. Developers should not infer permission rules from which buttons appear in a mockup.

Verify implementation

Review a working journey against the approved design and business criteria. Ask the supplier to support clarifications during implementation. The proposal should include that effort and an owner for changes, ensuring that the handover remains usable when the product reaches situations absent from the happy-path prototype.
