A dashboard summary can sound current while describing an earlier period. Supply the reporting context explicitly.
Keep calculations authoritative
Existing business functions produce the values. The model explains permitted results with their period and scope. It should not independently infer missing totals.
Test changing conditions
Include revised data, an incomplete period and a metric with no comparable previous value. Check whether the summary preserves those limitations.
Accept with business owners
Review explanations against the underlying values. Ask for source references and evaluated exceptions. The partner should separate changes to metric definitions from changes to wording. Faster reporting is not helpful if users cannot tell which period, population or approved calculation the generated explanation describes.
