An AI agent for customer onboarding: track the steps it actually completed

An onboarding agent may coordinate several steps. Users need to distinguish completed work from suggestions and failed attempts.

Define step ownership

Document invitations, permitted setup actions and customer responsibilities. Account permissions stay in the application. Each step has a recognizable completion condition.

Handle interrupted journeys

A failed external service should leave a usable state. Retried invitations or setup requests need agreed duplicate handling. Human staff must be able to resume.

Evaluate complete runs

Test missing information, declined invitations and changed account rights. Ask for actual system outcomes alongside the agent's messages. A reassuring final answer cannot prove the account was configured correctly. Acceptance should inspect the journey and its remaining work.
